Kelly Mater
Licensed Aesthetician

People often ask me why I decided to become an aesthetician. The simple fact is, at the age of 29 I developed a severe case of acne for the first time in my life. It was a horrifying experience but one that lead me to my passion of skincare and helping others find their answer to beautiful skin.

I was working for a high profile financial institution dealing with affluent clients with a face that looked like a pizza!  Like most, I searched over the counter first, only to find that most of the products I purchased made the situation worse. In my search for the cure I tried everything from Proactive to antibiotics even Accutane.  I was desperate to get those ugly pimples to go away.

A  colleague of mine recommended trying facials. My first thought was that facials were for people with good skin or pampering and relaxation. But I tried it, and after a few treatments my face started to get a little better. After about six months of regular glycolic treatments, my acne was under control and my face started to look normal again.

At that point, my interest in skincare dramatically peaked and I decided to change careers and become a licensed aesthetician. I wanted to know the ins and outs of skincare so that I never had to battle acne again. I also had a desire to help other people struggling with skin conditions. So I walked away from my high profile career and earned my license as an aesthetician.

After graduating from Kar-Che in 2004 I realized the education I had gotten was good, but I knew little about clinical and medical grade skincare. Most physicians hire experienced aestheticians to do medical-grade cosmetic treatments, and without that experience getting in the door is virtually impossible.  I lucked out six months after obtaining my license and landed a job in a Dermatology practice. I then spent the next two years learning the ins and outs of skincare as I once desired.

Clinical skincare is very different from skincare you receive in a salon or spa. The treatments pack a punch, and you must have extensive knowledge regarding the products, skin types, conditions and patients goals before jumping in. Which is exactly what I was able to master during my tenure in cosmetic dermatology.

Now as a medically trained licensed aesthetician, I am able to bring those clinical treatments directly to you, in a private, upscale skincare center. I will examine your skin and customize a treatment plan to help you achieve and maintain your skin care goals.

I offer the most advanced treatments in clinical aesthetics today, combined with caring, knowledge, skill and experience to help you meet your goals. I focus on proven treatments for a wide variety of skin concerns. Whether battling acne, rosacea, sun damage, or age, my menu of services offer effective treatments formulated with the most technically advanced products that will help your skin overcome its challenges, giving your complexion a glowing and radiant appearance.

There is nothing more rewarding to me, than to hear my clients rave about their skin, to feel more self confident and discover how simple skincare can truly be. If you are ready to significantly enhance the appearance of your skin, I invite you to schedule a consultation and begin to uncover your own natural beauty.
